Mark Retzloff

Mark Retzloff is one of the most influential pioneers in the natural, organic and sustainable food industry. Over a career spanning more than five decades, he has helped start and grow companies including Alfalfa’s Market, Horizon Organic Dairy and Aurora Organic Dairy. He also played a role in advancing the broader organic movement, including work connected to the Organic Food Production Act of 1990. 

In Colorado, Mark’s impact is foundational. Through Alfalfa’s, he helped create one of Boulder’s most important natural foods retail platforms, giving emerging brands access to consumers, feedback and community. Through Horizon Organic, he helped define the organic dairy category nationally. As a founding board member of Naturally Boulder, he also helped build the collaborative ecosystem that continues to support Colorado’s natural products entrepreneurs today.
