About the Panelists:
John Roulac
John W. Roulac is founder and Chief Hemp Officer of RE Botanicals, the Pure Organic Hemp Apothecary brand. In 1999, John founded the organic superfoods brand Nutiva. For seven consecutive years, under John’s leadership, Inc. Magazine selected Nutiva as one of American’s fastest growing companies. Governor Jerry Brown appointed John to serve on the California Department of Food & Ag’s Hemp Advisory Panel. A longtime advocate for healthy people and ecosystems. John has sourced and formulated close to $1B in retail sales of organic superfoods in the past 20 years. John is champion for regenerative agriculture, organic hemp farming and healthy oceans. He helped jumpstart the modern home-composting movement in the early 1990s and successfully sued the US DEA in a historic 2004 federal court victory to keep hemp foods legal. John has also authored four books on hemp and composting, with combined sales of more than one million copies. He has founded five nonprofit ecological groups, including GMOInside.org.
Todd Runestad
Todd has been writing on nutrition science news since 1997. He is a supplements editor for newhope.com, Delicious Living and Natural Foods Merchandiser. As he was the former editor-in-chief of Functional Ingredients magazine, he still covers raw material innovations and ingredient science.
Scott Hansen
Scott has spent his career focused on quality from working in quality control laboratories, to developing products by employing quality-by-design principles, to building quality systems for manufacturing from the ground up. As the Director of Quality Assurance at Agricor Laboratories and Botanacor Laboratories, ISO accredited cannabis testing and hemp testing laboratories respectively, Scott continues to drive quality initiatives by working to impart upon the cannabis and hemp industries the value of quality learned in his two decades in the pharmaceutical and biotech industries. Scott also recognizes the value of cannabis and hemp to people seeking wellness and relief from conditions where other therapies have failed. This is why he works tirelessly to drive the manufactures and regulators in the cannabis and hemp industries to improve quality standards and treat their processes and products with the care they deserve.
Annie Brown
Annie has been with the global leader in organic research, Rodale Institute since 2012 and has been serving as Development Director since 2016. Rodale Institute is the leader in game-changing research, farmer training, and educating consumers about how to help heal broken agricultural systems via regenerative organic agricultural methods for over 70 years.
