4. Whats your current obsession?
The Kamogawa Food Detectives by Hisashi Kashiwai. It’s about a father-daughter duo that recreate recipes for people based on a memory that they describe. A sweet story of how much food is connected to our lived experiences and memories of loved ones.
5. How did you hear about Naturally Colorado? What made you become a member? Has Naturally Colorado helped you in any way?
I first learned about Naturally Colorado from the tight knit CPG community right here in Colorado. Founders and service providers that are a part of this ecosystem have been so valuable and helpful in sharing insight and being supportive. I found that people in our community are generous with their time and willing to offer help if you reach out and ask. As a founder with no prior CPG or business experience, I have learned so much from my mentors and friends within the Naturally Network.

7. What inspired you to start your company?
I started my company as a part of my own health journey where I needed cleaner, healthier food options to heal. I continue to be motivated by providing healthier and better eating options for others and myself.
8. Why did you choose to focus on the natural and organic industry?
I think how we eat directly impacts how we feel and I like that there is a movement of people bringing good, natural, and organic foods to more people. I think you can tell the quality in the taste of the foods and organic and natural will always be better.
9. Can you describe the biggest challenge you faced during the early stages of your company, and how you overcame it?
I had to do a lot of education on what is ghee and why would you want to use it. It was easier to overcome that obstacle when I was selling in person at farmers markets but as the business grew to other sales channels, I had to get that education through to the consumer quickly through the branding and packaging. So I rebranded early on and redid the packaging to really capture what the product is and the feel for why you would want to use it.
10. What keeps you up at night regarding your business?
Everything! But in seriousness, I am really focusing on our consumers having a good experience with our products and I want to make sure that we support them by providing recipes and other tips for how to use it, especially if they are new to ghee.
11. What strategies can you share that have been effective?
12. How important is networking, and what strategies do you use to build and maintain professional relationships?
The network is key for so many reasons not least of which is being able to bounce ideas off of each other especially as a solo entrepreneur. Naturally Colorado is an excellent way to stay on top of networking. There’s always something on the calendar or some ways to connect coming up and I know there will be good connections made each time I go.
13. What is one piece of advice or knowledge that has changed your life and why?
Get creative. That can apply to so many different scenarios that come up as a business owner. There could be any number of issues or problems that arise and sometimes the solutions require creativity and looking for a way that’s new and different.
